In the 1st master snooker nationals held in Chennai, former Asian gold medallist Rafath Habib was knocked out by Manudev of Karnataka in the semi-finals. Manudev started off strong right from the beginning with a break of 64 to lead by 1-0. Rafath then held his nerve as he took the next frame to level at 1-1. Dev came back strong with his good potting as he took the lead by 2-1. Habib then managed to level it again as he played excellent snooker. Dev with his ever so calm and composed nature came to the table and bemused Rafath as he dominated the next two consecutive frames and won the match by 4-2. To enter the final.
In the other semi-finals, Alok Kumar of PSPB finished his match in no time as he whitewashed Chirag Ramakrishnan of Maharashtra 4-0. Alok had put his ‘A game’ right from the beginning of the tournament. With breaks of 60 and 46 he quickly went into the lead by 2-0. After that with some fine potting and safety play he finished the match 4-0 and comfortably entered the final to face off against Manudev.
